Epic Style Moments With B Akerlund

Hey guys! As I've mentioned on my last post, I've had the opportunity to meet one of zeeeeee most AMAZING stylist in the industry, B AKERLUNDThe event took place at Smashbox studios in W. Hollywood during one of School Of Style's classes. Funny, cause I actually thought she was a model when I saw her at the parking lot, turns out she's our much awaited guest speaker for the evening.

Miss B has a unique charm about her. It's like being in a room with a QUEEN
but the queen makes you laugh, as she tweets "off to SchoolofStyle in full drag".
The queen is REAL, as she didn't sugar coat anything about the industry and was sincerely open and honest about what it takes to get to where she is.
The queen has a silent but powerful confidence. You know, like the kind of confidence that comes from years of passion, hard work, sweat, tears and triumph.
Most of all, the queen INSPIRES. I'm perfectly aware that she's speaking in front of a large group of people but I felt like I was having a one on one conversation with her. All of the things she said and the experiences she's had, the questions she answered, it felt personal to me.
It was as if she was speaking to just ME.

She said that "if you are a creative person, then you HAVE TO CREATE. Otherwise, where will it go?" This was the moment when I stopped in my head and said OMG, I can relate to her! I can feel it in my bones that I love to create, that I NEED to create and here's queen B validating it.

Then she goes on saying, "I'm a collector of all things. I like my stuff to not be available anywhere else, I'm selfish like that. Don't settle for what's available, create it if you can't find it. Oh and be NICE, no one wants to work with an assh*le"

Just like her, I'm always on a hunt for fabulous one of a kind pieces. Other times, I make them and that's actually how my BOW TIES were born. I'm lucky that I've gained so many nice friends in the industry. There's so many amazing human beings in this world actually! I mean of course, once in a while I will encounter an assh*le but I dissociate myself from them quickly. It's weird because some people think that if you're nice that they can step all over you.
Well, that's a BIG FAT NO.
If you're rude, you LOSE. You lose friends, you lose people, you lose jobs, you lose opportunities. How can you step all over them if they're not even there? I think niceness is a sign of strength not weakness. Kind people are secure, happy and wise enough to realize that everyone else deserves to be treated how they want to be treated. B says she believes in Karma, I do too!!!
So with this I quote,Rachel Roy's Ghana clutch
" Kindness is always fashionable"

THANK YOU B and to SCHOOL OF STYLE
It was quite an epic night.
Inspiration, motivation, dedication ---> REJUVENATED!
OOhhhhh I'm so GLAD I came!!

4 Ways To Wear A Graphic Top

For a laid back, California girl look. You can wear your graphic top with a pair of denim jeans, skirt or shorts. Here I paired my graphic top with shorts, flat boots and a cool fedora hat. If you’re not into boots, you can wear ballerina flats or sandals and rock a cute hairstyle instead of a fedora hat. I would wear this outfit to the beach or any outdoor event such as a bbq party or maybe even a concert.

If you’re more of a city girl, you can wear  your graphic top with a simple pencil or a tail skirt like this. Here I’m wearing a fun pleated tail skirt and I accessorized with multi layer bracelet and basic heels. This outfit is great for work, happy hour or even a hot date!

The graphic top is the perfect piece if you want to try an analogous color scheme. An analogous color scheme uses colors that are next to each other on the color wheel. They are often found in nature and are harmonious and pleasing to the eye. The trick is to find the color that stands out most on the fabric (in this case it’s bright green ) and match it with the color right next to it on the color wheel, here you can go for yellow or blue.. I picked blue. This outfit is perfect for school or just hanging out with friends.

For the fashionista, it’s easy to make this graphic top NYFW ready. Here, I buttoned my graphic blouse all the way to the top, put my hair up in a bun and used a leather bow tie as a hair accessory. I also wore a cool coat with leather sleeves, skinny pants and basic heels. To finalize the look, you can use a cute neon clutch and you’re ready for an outfit post in no time.

Bloggers We Love - LA Fashion Snob

Let's face it.
It takes courage to be creative and it takes guts to be different.
Put the two together and you create a whole lot of FABULOUSNESS!

I simply cannot get over how fabulous Heather looks in her all black ensemble and how she accessorized her mystical look with a black leather bow tie! Oh and how cute is that fascinator?!

Our featured blogger Heather Petrey is the mind behind LAFashionsnob.com. She's originally from Ohio, born a Virgo. She also graduated from FIDM and majored in fashion design. Now, she designs fabulous dresses, jewelry and of course, fascinators (which never fail to fascinate by the way). She's currently moving to Austin TX but not to worry because she's still going to pursue blogging as well as open up a vintage boutique. I love how she say's "I don't follow trends, I set my own! I love mixing vintage w/modern pieces when going out."

So to all my girls in Austin, Texas make sure not miss out on Heather's vintage boutique. I've seen some unbelievable pieces on her instagram already!

Bloggers We Love - Prince Cassius

It's always an honor to be supported by fashion icons and taste makers around the world!
Ladies and gents let me introduce you to my new super stylish, style star extraordinaire and fashion friend,
Prince Cassius.

Prince Cassius was born in the Horn of Africa and spent his youth in the northern deserts of the continent.  As bombs collapsed his home in war-torn Somalia, his family was forced to flee to Kenya then Ethiopia. Eventually he and his family made their way to England where he was raised in London and recently graduated from University of the Arts London, with a Bachelor of Arts in Media and Cultural studies. He’s well known in the fashion industry for his unique, iconic and fabulous style.
